Pregnancy

When a woman plans to conceive pregnancy or if she is already pregnant, she is very interested in the pregnancy issues. She wants to know everything in order to be well prepared to deal with it. Every woman knows that pregnancy is the period that brings much joy, but also many problems because the whole body is changing. The proper understanding of pregnancy, how to stay healthy during and after pregnancy and how to provide health to he baby are the things that every woman is curious about.

The fertile woman becomes pregnant once the egg released from the ovaries is fertilized by spermatozoid and implanted in the endometrium of the uterus. When this occurs, the body starts to manufacture a hormone called hCG; the abbreviation stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin. When a woman does a pregnancy test, the presence of this hormone in either blood or urine is found if the woman is pregnant, since it is only produced in pregnancy. If the result is negative, then the woman is not pregnant since the hormone is not present in the body.

Trimesters of pregnancy

Pregnancy duration is about 40 weeks or 9 months from the last menstruation. Pregnancy can be divided into three trimesters.

In the first trimester, which lasts about 12 to 14 weeks from the moment of conception, the expecting mother is likely to experience many pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness, vomiting and many other discomforts. Frequent urination and tenderness of breast, as well as fatigue, are very likely to appear during the first trimester of pregnancy. It is recommended that the pregnant women during this period practice walking every day as a physical activity. The second trimester of pregnancy is referred to as golden period of pregnancy in which the symptoms subside and the mother can feel the baby inside her stomach. Almost the only discomfort in this period is the appearance of stretch marks on the abdomen, which become visible. In the third trimester, the baby is too big and cannot move in the uterus but the mother is always very tired and can experience shortness of breath due to constant growing of the baby.

The expecting mothers should pay attention to their own health, but also to the health of the baby. Whatever they consume their child also consumes through them. Therefore, alcohol, nicotine and caffeine should be strictly forbidden during these nine months of pregnancy, but also after that period if the mother is breastfeeding her newborn child.
