Flomax side effects in men

Flomax, or tamsulosin hydrochloride, is the drug which is usually prescribed for treating certain prostate gland disorders in men, such as enlarged prostate and benign prostatic hyperplasia.

The prostate gland is a reproductive organ of the males, located below the bladder and it surrounds the urethra. The puberty is the time when the prostate gland begins to grow and its growing is continued throughout the adulthood. In older people of the ages between 50 and 60 years, the continuous growing of the prostate gland usually causes problems by squeezing the urethra. Thus, certain problems with urination occur, like painful urination, burning sensation while urinating, and incontinence, as well as urine retention. When all this happens, it is usually diagnosed as benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Side effects of Flomax

The most common nervous system side effects are headaches, somnolence, dizziness and asthenia. Furthermore, insomnia and even seizures in some cases may occur due to consummation of this medicine. Of genitourinary side effects the most frequent ones are impotence, urinary retention and priapism, but it is also proven that this medicine may cause abnormal ejaculation, which includes several different problems.

Rhinitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis and increased cough are the most common respiratory system adverse effects of Flomax. The men who take this drug to treat certain prostate gland disorder may also experience pain in the chest and in the beck. Of cardiovascular side effects, flushing and tachycardia, as well as othostatic hypotension, may occur due to consummation of tamsulosin hydrochloride. Symptomatic postural hypotension and syncope are two circulatory system disorders that may also appear after the intake of Flomax.

Diarrhea, nausea, constipation and gastric pain, as well as anorexia and dysphagia, are the most typical gastrointestinal adverse effects of this medicine. Flomax may also cause several problems associated with ocular system, such as intraoperative floppy iris syndrome and amblyopia. Elevated liver may appear as a hepatic side effect of Flomax.
