Cellulite is a problem that is believed to affect almost every woman to some extent, and some men too. Everyone who has cellulite knows it is not easy to get rid of them. There is no single fast cure for this problem, and its treatment requires quite some time, patience and persistence. But if there is a will, there is a way. One just has to be very patient.

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is also called orange peel skin, cottage cheese and pin-cushion skin. It usually appears on thighs, belly, buttocks and upper arms. Cellulite is in fact located underneath the skin and it comprises of fat cells surrounded by a connective tissue. When the connective tissue tightens over the skin cells, it pushes them towards the surface of the skin, making cellulite visible.

For some, cellulite is always visible, no matter what they do, but for most people it only becomes visible when the skin is pinched, pushed or squeezed. It also shows when sitting or laying down, sometimes while walking or running too.

How to cure cellulite

There are hundreds of products and treatments that promise to take care of cellulite in no time, once and for all. However, most of them, if not all, are completely useless unless they are combined with other methods. In addition, no treatment or product will remove the cellulite fast. It takes time for the cellulite to form, and it takes time for it to go away. This may sound pessimistic, but it is true.

The best way to treat cellulite is to adopt a holistic approach. This means combining different methods, products and treatments. Some people opt for massage only; others try electrical stimulation, while some rely on the diet alone. The truth is, all these methods work well only if they are combined with each other.

The first thing to do in the battle against cellulite is to revise the diet. The diet should be low in fats and sugars, and rich in protein, essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Ideally it should consist of whole grains and fresh fruit and vegetables.

Hydration is also very important, because water is essential for detox, and detox necessary for the battle against cellulite. Ample amounts of water will flush the toxins out of the system, carrying away the elements that cause cellulite.

Exercise is another indispensable element of any anti-cellulite regimen. A good cardio workout burns the calories and fat deposits, and it improves circulation. More fresh blood is brought to the layers underneath the skin’s surface, carrying oxygen and important nutrients, and taking away toxins and disposing of them.

Stress in another important factor. It stimulates the production of adrenalin, which directs the blood to the muscles and away from the skin. Being relaxed and calm and using breathing techniques regularly may not seem like a big deal in cellulite reduction, but it is in fact very important.

Finally, no cellulite treatment can be complete without the massage. A proper massage, preferably done by an experienced person, stimulates the blood circulation and the lymphatic drainage, eliminates the toxins and tightens the skin. There are also special massage lotions that contain cellulite fighting ingredients.
