Salbutamol

Salbutamol is an inhaler which is used in treatments of asthma, pulmonary emphysema and other problems with lungs. Salbutamol prevents asthma attacks and relieves the symptoms of lung diseases, such as breathing difficulties, coughing and wheezing. This medication stimulates the air passages in the lungs and improves the air flow. Salbutamol can be obtained with prescription from your doctor.

Precautions

Before you start taking Salbutamol, you should inform your doctor about any other health problems, because this medication is not recommended in case of disorders such as diabetes, heart diseases, kidney disease and high blood pressure, and in case of problems with thyroid gland and history of seizures. Common Side Effects of Salbutamol

In case you experience any side effects of Salbutamol, you should contact your doctor, so the dose could be adjusted or the treatment changed. The most common side effects are dizziness, sore throat, dryness of the throat, sleeping disorders, headache, pain in the sinuses, nausea and vomiting. Other common side effects may include tremors and shaking of the hands, arms, feet, or legs. You may also experience changes in the heartbeat and different taste in the mouth.

Serious Side Effects of Salbutamol

Contact your doctor immediately if you notice any of the serious side effects of Salbutamol. Such side effects include worsening of the symptoms and more breathing difficulties, irregular pulse, pain in the chest, severe skin irritation, severe cough and wheezing, and persistent and severe headache and faintness. Other serious side effects are urination problems, severe nausea followed by vomiting, pain in the ear and pain in the neck or jaw. You may also experience cramps in the muscles, drowsiness, seizures and changes in mood and behavior, such as anxiety, restlessness, confusion and irritability. Excessive sweating, vision impairment, numbness in the extremities, pain in the stomach, thirst, hunger and sudden changes in weight should also be reported to your doctor as soon as possible.

Rare Side Effects of Salbutamol

In rare cases, you may experience side effects of Salbutamol such as noisy breathing, swelling of the skin on the entire body and unusual sleepiness. Allergic reaction to Salbutamol is also rare, and it may include swelling of the throat, lips or tongue, hoarseness, tension in the chest, breathing difficulties, itchiness, rash and irritation of the skin.
