Health is Often Misunderstood

We, being heavily affected by popular beliefs and the never-ending brainwash of any current culture, tend to mistake being skinny to being healthy.

In reality, there is a certain connection to the two, but it is highly relative. Basically, the fact that you are overweight does not make you any more or less healthy than some extremely popular, aesthetically praised, anorexic diva of the catwalk. Rather, there are several other things which must be taken into consideration.

You need to eat healthy and eat a wide variety of food, changing meals often, preferring the natural over processed food. Also, you need to have plenty of exercise since a sedentary life, combined with malnutrition, makes your bones fragile and your organism week, regardless of the amount of fat you have in your body.

Thus, before jumping to both positive and negative conclusions about someone's health, bear the previously mentioned things, as well as the following facts in mind.

The Body Mass Index

Looks can be deceiving. Rather, you need facts in order to know whether you weigh too much or too little. Luckily, there is a scientific method of gaining this information. It is called the body mass index. Basically, by using forceps, you are to measure the fat levels of your body from specific areas, write them down and then calculate them, learning if you have more or less fat than you should.

Do not forget that eating less than necessary is equally bad as overeating. The former causes deficiencies, while the latter results in different problems. Nevertheless, both of these can make you sick and jeopardize your health even further if you do not act adequately.

Being underweight or overweight affects your blood, cardiovascular system, metabolism, skin and many other organs in your body.

Thus, all prejudice aside, we need to be fit. Fit, of course is not looking like you came from a fashion magazine. Being fit is not the same as looking fit. Looks can be altered by genetics and various other factors. However, you need to exercise and lead a specific, healthy, way of life in order to truly be fit. So, deal with the real thing, not with an illusion. The effect may be the same aesthetically, but physically, you will feel incomparably better and will lead a life of high quality.
