Definition of Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease with pain in the ligaments, muscles or tendons, followed by pain and fatigue in hips, elbows, shoulders, the upper chest, upper back, neck, low back or tights. Apart from that, patients with fibromyalgia may also suffer from TMJ disorders, sleep disorders, numbness in the hands or feet, anxiety, heightened sensitivity to odors, touch, noises or bright lights, restless legs syndrome, headaches, poor concentration, depression, painful menstrual periods or irritable bowel syndrome.
Causes of Fibromyalgia
Some of possible causes of Fibromyalgia may be low levels of serotonin, mercury or other heavy metal poisoning, poor immune system, adrenal exhaustion, imbalance of cortisol and growth hormone, viral or bacterial infection, allergies, Epstein-Barr virus, Candida albicans, insomnia or sleep disturbances, emotional stress or trauma, and hypothyroidism or hypoglycaemia.

Symptoms of fibromyalgia include muscular pain and tender points at the body. When your doctor diagnoses you, he will test 18 tender points on your body and If there are 11 or more, you have fibromyalgia.
