Getting rid of fever blisters

The first thing that people should know is that once they are infected with the virus, they will most likely have blisters breaking out quite often. There are not that many cases of people who have the virus but never experienced cold sores. Getting rid of fever blisters when they do show up is not easy due to the fact that they are quite stubborn. It is important that people get to know the factors that trigger fever blisters to occur. Some of the most common triggers are stress, illness and a weak immune system. In these situations the virus rises to the skin surfaces and that is when cold sores appear. However, the good thing is that there are a lot of possible treatments that will help people speed the process of recovery of fever blisters. It is essential that people start the treatment as soon as cold sores occur. Applying ice to the area that tingles or itches is the first thing that people should do. Cold prevent the virus to spread. Apart from ice, people should apply petroleum jelly onto the area where the blisters are forming. Petroleum jelly is good for further prevention of blisters. Making sure that the area is dry is important because the blisters spread more easily in moist areas. Apart from these remedies, there are plenty more. People should consume more foods which are rich in lysine, like potatoes and dairy products. Applying lemon balm or tea tree oil on the affected area helps a lot. Applying tea bags for 15 minutes is quite helpful as well.
