Exfoliation

Every 2 to 4 weeks our skin gets replaced. You need to remove the old skin in order to avoid clogging of the pores, acne and blackheads. Exfoliation is the excellent way to enhance your skin and remove that old layer. Whatever you decide to do, whatever method, always be gentle to your skin. Any harsh substance or movement could harm it.

Before the exfoliation, cleanse your skin thoroughly with the some mild soap and warm water. To exfoliate, all you need is a sponge, loofa, a brush or some sea salt. Use it on the skin and under the layer of old dull skin, there will be some new, rejuvenated tissue. The new skin will feel smooth and at least temporary, fine wrinkles will be less visible.

Natural Methods

Plenty of ingredients found in every home can be used to exfoliate the skin.

Baking soda paste, made of one teaspoon of baking soda and 2 teaspoons of clear water is great for exfoliation. Apply it to the skin of your face and neck, avoiding the area around the eyes. Rub it onto the skin for a minute or two and wash the face with some water. Your face should be smooth and gentle, but it will also need some moisturizing after the treatment. The same baking soda paste can be used to exfoliate the entire body.

Fruit masks are excellent ways to exfoliate. Fruits contain substances known to help separation of the old dead skin cells. The same ingredients, known as alpha hydrohy acids, may be found in expensive anti aging skin creams and lotions. Mix some fruits (peach, kiwi, bananas, pineapple, papaya, etc.), mash it and mix them all up. Then add a teaspoon of oatmeal and the same amount of yogurt and honey. Apply onto the skin and leave that mask on the face for some 15 to 20 minutes. It would be dried on your face, so wet it with some water and then remove and wash with some water thoroughly.

Before Spray Tan

Exfoliation before spray tan is a must, if you want to maintain the color for a longer period of time. For this purpose exfoliate your whole body, using baking soda paste or some other oil-free exfoliating products. Shower your body and massage the paste/product to the skin. You can use sponge, loofa or exfoliating gloves. Some parts of the body are sensitive, so try not to press too hard. Rinse the products, apply the moisturizer lotion and you are ready for fake tan.
