The importance of tools

Tools are a very important thing to have and you will need them your whole life. Their functionality remains unchanged, while their form has changed over the years. In order to do any work we have to apply certain amount of force and this amount is decreased when we use tools. Work is made a lot easier with tools, but it can be made a lot harder without them. So in order to do something, you will require tools and for the hot stone massage, you will require hot stones.

We will see why they are used and if it means that practically any stone can be used. Best tools come from the Mother Nature and according to some information, the first stone tools came from East Africa more than 2.5 million of years ago. But Ethiopia, more precisely Olduvai Gorge, is the place where the first stone tool was discovered. They were called Oldowan tools and they were made from the volcanic rock, by chipping off flakes from the rock stone cobbles, to be more precise.

This is called core tool and it is an excellently handled tool. Such tools are great for the digging, chopping and hammering jobs, but some scientists say that they were just a byproduct of flake tool, which is another tool used in these times. Flake tool bore greater significance than the core tool. The process of making core tool left stone flakes from which simpler tools were created. Flake tools helped with the animal piercing and served as a knife.

Proper Stones

The massage and its effectiveness largely depends on the selection of tool, or in this case, stones. In order to get an efficient massage, you will have to find a proper stone, heat it to the exact temperature and place it on the right spot. Stone massages mostly use basalt stones, which are great absorbers of heat and water and they look very beautiful, which is a plus. Basalt stones are volcanic rocks, but know that you cannot just use any volcanic rock.

They have to have adequate weight and shape, along with their proper use. Proper heating of the stones is a must and for this you can use stone heaters. If you are not careful, you may leave a stone mark on your patient. Positioning is of crucial importance as well. Slippage needs to be avoided by wiping the stones before placing them.

Also, be careful when working with the stones and see with the patient if the temperature of the stones is adequate. Place stones of abdicated size on specific body areas and be careful when taking the stones off. Hot stones are one of the oldest tools available today and this vouches for their effectiveness.
