Premature ejaculation

Premature ejaculation or rapid ejaculation is a condition marked by the occurrence of ejaculation before the both sexual partners want it. It is one of the most common sexual dysfunction that appears usually in men under 40 years of age. If this happens very rarely, it should not be a huge concern. However, if premature ejaculation happens often, in more than 50% of sexual relations, it is advisable to take an appropriate treatment. Premature ejaculation is not only a problem of men. Many women have the problem to reach orgasm with vaginal intercourse, so that the delayed female orgasm appears and not premature ejaculation in men. Therefore, a premature ejaculation is defined as persistent and repeated ejaculation with minimal sexual stimulation before a person wants it. It is usually very distressful and may cause problems between the partners.

Desire or libido, excitement or arousal and orgasm are three human sexual responses. Sexual disorders can be primary, general medical condition–related, substance-induced, and not otherwise specified. Premature ejaculation can be primary or secondary. Primary premature ejaculation is premature ejaculation from the start of sexual activity of a man, and it usually occurs in postpuberty, while secondary premature ejaculation appears later after a period with normal ejaculation.

Causes or premature ejaculation

The exact cause of this sexual dysfunction is still unknown. Yet, there are several potential causes and one of the main causes is psychological. The causes for the primary premature ejaculation may be numerous because a man with primary premature ejaculation has never had an intercourse without premature ejaculation. Therefore, certain profound emotional disturbance causes this condition. Sometimes premature ejaculation may be related with teen masturbation practices. Furthermore, if one had traumatic experiences, such as family incest, sexual assault, and conflict with one or both parents, it can cause anxiety related to sex.

The patient with secondary premature ejaculation experiences this sexual dysfunction due to some type of performance anxiety. A man may feel a fear of failure to satisfy the partner. Pressure performance usually occurs because of ED, which is the common precipitating event. Typically, in such cases a male usually says that he was excited too much and that he could not hold back the ejaculation. This is a way to avoid admitting premature ejaculation. However, there are many other reasons for premature ejaculation. Relationship problems may lead to the occurrence of rapid ejaculation. If a man had earlier satisfying intercourse with rare premature ejaculation, or if it did not appear at all with other partners, this is the sign that the problems in the relationships affects the desirable sexual relation.
