Nowadays, lots of people suffer from nervousness and anxiety. However, not all people experience the same degree of these inconveniences. Some people suffer more greatly than the others. Some people will be able to deal with anxiety and nervousness with certain medications. Others will need to make some changes in the diet in order to intake all the needed nutrients.
A majority of people at least once in their life suffer from anxiety and nervousness. These disorders are common brain and nervous disorders. A person who suffers from either of these disorders will experience extreme panic and fear, thoughts that are too obsessive and can not be controlled, nightmares and in some cases even nausea, muscle tension, headaches and stomachaches. In addition to these a person may also have the feeling of dizziness, chills and hot flashes.
Medications
People who do not need to change the diet and can control the nervousness and anxiety with medications have a lot of choices. Lorazepam, alprazolam and buspirone are the usual medications that are being prescribed with antidepressants. In some cases nervousness is caused because of the hormonal secretion from the thyroid or adrenal glands. In this case, there is a need for special treatment. Some doctors will even advise a patient to seek psychological counseling.
Food
For a very long time people are aware of the connection between food and a person's mood. For instance, carbohydrates are known to be excellent for the mood because they increase serotonin. A person should consume complex carbohydrates because they need a longer time to be digested. Potatoes, whole wheat bread and pasta are good sources of complex carbohydrates.
Apart from the complex carbohydrates, vitamin B-6 is also good for the creation of serotonin. For quite some time now people use vitamin B6 supplements in the treatment of anxiety. A person who suffers from anxiety should consume more foods rich in antioxidants along with essential fats. Dehydration does not help with the treatment of both anxiety and nervousness so a person should intake enough fluids. Apart from water, a person can consume some hot beverages like tea but too much caffeine should be avoided.
At this moment the researchers are looking for vitamins and minerals that can relieve nervousness. So far it is believed that inositol and magnesium play an important part in the process of recovery from nervousness. There are also certain herbs that are known to be good for this treatment like chamomile for instance. Passion flower, bacopa and kava are also good for the anxiety. However, a person should talk to an expert before using any of these herbs because they might cause some side effects.
