A British woman, Kerry Horan (34) finally became a mother after doctors treated her with Viagra. Kerry had a miscarriage in 2005 at 12 weeks, and she underwent three rounds of in vitro fertilization, and they all failed. After IVF treatments failed, Horan decided to visit private fertility clinic CARE Nottingham. Then her doctor decided to start a new approach - treat her with Viagra.

She is believed to be the first case of successful treatment with this method and she gave birth to a daughter Grace in December. I think we all know what Viagra is, but for those who don't (who?) Viagra is approved for the treatment of impotence (also known as erectile dysfunction). It was the first oral medication for this purpose. However, Viagra does not treat only sexual dysfunction, but could also provide effective treatment for a life-threatening heart and lung condition such as pulmonary hypertension, or high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs and could also treat infertility.

A scan at CARE Nottingham fertility clinic showed her womb's lining was too thin for an embryo to implant successfully. And since Viagra is a blood flow booster, Dr George Ndukwe recommended Viagra. His idea was that the Viagra could improve poor womb and make the lining stronger. He was aware that the treatment can be dangerous and must be taken under strict supervision. Kerry was following Viagra treatment for 9 days. She said she was shocked when they mentioned a treatment that involved Viagra, but she also said she was willing to try anything. And few minutes after taking the pill, her face turned red: Viagra truly was a blood flow booster. Kerry says Viagra treatment wasn't a pleasant experience, but it was well worth. After the treatment Kerry got scanned again, and a scan showed her womb had thickened enough for doctors to implant IVF embryos. Kerry felt pregnant two weeks later.
