No matter how much I look around the website of the Cape Fertility Clinic, I can't find any specific information about their success rates. Their site looks great, and is very informative, but this piece of crucial information seems to be missing. In their "about" section, they do mention that they complete around 850 IVF cycles a year. The Cape Fertility Clinic also offers ICSI, ovulation induction, egg donation, egg freezing, and other fertility treatments. The names of their reproductive endocrinologists are on their site, as are their opening hours.
Interestingly, I did find a press release from Cape Fertility Clinic on another site. Among their selling points, the press release lists a lack of waiting lists, affordable treatment, and a 60 to 70 percent pregnancy rate. That sounds rather promising, doesn't it? But a figure like that does not tell us all that much. We'd prefer to see success rates for each treatment and age group listed separately, so that we have a better idea of what to expect. The South African government does not appear to have this information readily available either (like the UK government does, for instance), unless it is in a language other than English, and we were not able to find it for that reason. A special IVF task force was set up to regulate invitro fertilization in South Africa in 2007, but they have apparently failed to complete their work due to financial difficulties.
