Throat inflammation can emerge as an individual condition,or it can be included in some other illness or disease. Most commonly, throatinflammation happens as a part of the viral infection of the upper respiratorypathways. Viral infections caused by influenza virus type A and type B are themost common causes of season flu. It affects all age groups, during almost theentire year. These inflammations usually pass on their own after a period ofseven days. But, in some rare cases, the situation might get complicated and it canlead to some form of infection. Infection is usually caused by some bacteria, but it is possible that the etiological factor may be something else.

Throat inflammation

In children, throat inflammation is almost always caused byviruses. As the child grows older, the inflammation becomes caused by streptococcusinfection type A. In older people, factors that cause the throat problems aredifferent and they include herpes, mycoplasma, streptococcus Candida, etc. Also, in school age, infective mononucleosis is another possible inducer ofthroat issues. This illness has a viral etiology and it is usually transferredwith a physical contact (popular name for this disease is kiss disease). It ismanifested through the pain in the throat and problems in the process of swallowing.Lymphatic nodes are increased in size, but the illness can get complicated ifliver and spleen start to grow, and if the therapy is not proper, there mightbe some consequences for the heart.

Streptococcus infection

Streptococcus infection is followed by throat ache, swallowing issues, high temperature, exhaustion, but cough is also present. It isimportant to know that children can be carriers of this particular illness. Theydo not show any symptoms, but they can infect others.

Streptococcal infection is treated with the help of strepthroat antibiotics. Most commonly, those are products based on penicillin. Ifthere is an allergy to penicillin present, then a patient will have to usesomething else, a medicament called erythromycin. When there is a tonsilsinflammation present, clindamycin is used. In those cases, with chronicinfection, both aerobic and non-aerobic bacteria are present.

Whatever the case, it is essential to watch the signs to seeif there is any medical problem present for you and for your child. It is notwise to do some therapy on your own, since, that just might make things worse. Medicationsare here to help us, but only if the organism actually needs them. If there isno direct need for medications, those should not be used.
