They may notice vaginal spotting and bleeding, the leakage of fluid from the vagina and vaginal discharge that contains bloody clots and tissue. Causes of the second trimester miscarriage
The miscarriage in the second trimester of pregnancy may occur due to numerous reasons. The age of the pregnant women may greatly influence the occurrence of this condition, especially if they are over 35. Furthermore, the presence of the uterine fibroids in the walls of the uterus, as well as some auto immune disease that attacks the fetus as a strange body and chromosomal anomalies of the baby, are also some potential culprits for the incidence of the second trimester miscarriage.
Some problems with uterus or the weakened cervix may also be responsible for the occurrence of miscarriage in the second trimester of pregnancy. Moreover, unhealthy habits, such as drinking, smoking and drug consumption, as well as the existence of some health problem such as diabetes, thyroid disease, hormonal imbalance and lupus are also some of the responsible factors for the incidence of this condition.
Treatment of the second trimester pregnancy
When a woman experiences miscarriage in the second trimester, the doctor usually orders blood tests of the parents, endometrial biopsy and the test for detecting the chromosomal anomalies in the tissue from the miscarriage. However, a surgery procedure is necessary and process is called dilation and evacuation.
