Stoned minerals and salts in urine in a form of pebbles, are actually kidney stones. A small grain of sand may become big as a golf ball, and may stick to body or may move in the urinary tract, which may cause terrible pain. The urinary tract carry stone balls toward the kidneys and further on to the bladder and bladder tubes that lead through urethra. Medicaments

-Preventing Calcium Stones
Calcium stones cannot go away by dieting or using drugs. Drug in such case may stop calcium stones to resize and enhance or may prevent new ones from forming.
a)      Orthophosphate are to be used from time to time due to a many side effects such as potassium citrate and thiazides.
b)      Thiazides and potassium citrate are used to stop calcium stones from forming.

- Preventing Uric Acid Stones
10% of kidney stones are uric acid: it is a waste product that is placed in the body, in urine. Uric acid stones may dissolve.
a)      Allopurino stops body to produce uric acid.
b)      Potassium citrate and sodium bicarbonate stops urine to turn over acidic.

- Preventing Cystine Stones
Very little, just 1% of kidney stones are created by cystine. Cystine stones are inherited from the family, and mean a large amount of cystine in urine.
a)      Captopril, penicillamine and tiopronin are to dissolve cystine in urine.
b)      Potassium citrate stops urine to become over acidic and stops creating a cystine stones.

-Preventing Struvite Stones
Struvite kidney stones occurs in 15% cases. These are infection stones and may occur together with infections of the urinary tract. And if they become big enough, they become staghorn calculi.
    a)  Urease inhibitors here are not likely to occur that often because of their side effect.
