Nose bleeds types
Nosebleeds can be divided into two groups depending on the place where they start. Therefore, there can be anterior and posterior nosebleeds, anterior starting in the front of the nasal septum, while posterior starts at the extreme back of the nasal cavity. Anterior nosebleeds are caused by breaking and bleeding of the capillaries in the nose, while in posterior the blood tends to flow down the back of the throat. Anterior nosebleeds are more frequent then posterior and they can be easily treated. Children rarely have posterior nosebleeds. It is very important to visit a doctor if posterior nosebleed occurs, because it can be very serious.
Causes of nosebleeds
One of the most frequent causes for the occurrence of the nosebleeds includes various types of injuries, such as a sudden blow to the nose, for example. Furthermore, dry and cold air may also lead to this condition because the lining of the nose cavity is very sensitive, and with the beginning of a cold weather, it starts to dry and crack. Moreover, different allergies may also cause the nasal tissue to become dry and to crack.
The people who consume drugs by inhaling them are susceptible to nose bleeds, because the nasal tissue is sensitive to the substances such as cocaine, and begins to wear away and bleed. High blood pressure and other cardiovascular disorders may also be responsible for the occurrence of this condition. When one suffers from hypertension, strong pressure may cause the capillaries and arteries in the nose to bleed. Nasal polyps caused by allergies or nasal infection are specific benign growths in the nose, which may also induce nosebleeds.
When one has bleeding disorders such as problems with blood platelets and blood clotting, he/she may develop this condition. Moreover, there are certain medicines known as blood thinners that are also considered to be a potential cause of the nose bleeds. Everyone should know that nosebleeds are not serious if they occur rarely. However, if they tend to appear almost every week, they can be a symptom of some serious condition and should not be neglected.
