Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums caused by multiplying bacteria between the teeth. Irregular dental hygiene causes a deposition of food particles on them. Bacteria feed on these particles while they are still soft, causing inflammation of the gums. After some time these particles harden creating plaque that remains on the teeth. If gingivitis isn’t treated immediately, it can turn into a chronic condition and cause serious health problems.

The main culprit for development of this disease is bacteria. Since the mouth is a warm and humid place that is several times a day supplied with food, it is an ideal environment for rapid multiplication of bacteria which, in addition to inflammation of the gums and teeth, very adversely affect the immune system. In addition to bacterial infection, the gums may bleed due to use of certain medications, hormonal changes during pregnancy and poor nutrition.

Also, the color and structure of the stronger gums that binding teeth changes as a consequence of spreading bacteria in the mouth. They get a reddish appearance.

In addition, one can prepare a simple home remedy for mouth rinse to reduce inflammation. It is enough to mix only a pinch of salt and lukewarm water and rinse with it in the oral cavity. In addition, it is desirable to rub a little oil of clove to the inflammed gums. Also, instead of oil, raw clove can be used by chewing to free its liquid which affects the infected gums. In addition to the direct application of different preparations on the gums, it is necessary to comply with certain feeding regimes, which means avoiding saturated fats in order to reduce swelling of the gums.
