A Flea or a Bed Bug?!

Often, usually when we are traveling, spending time with stray animals or simply sleeping in hotel rooms oreven at home, we tend to wake up with numerous tiny wounds and bitemarks. One of the two major suspects in this case are bed bugs andfleas. However, due to the similarity in the bite, one can hardlydifferentiate the two even though there are ways to do that. Thus, inorder to know what you are dealing with, the following lines willprovide a distinctive comparison of the two insects and theirtroublesome bites.

Flea Bites vs Bed Bug Bites

Fleas are located mostly in furs ofboth wild and domestic animals. Being such, we are likely to get incontact with these small bloodsuckers whenever we are getting incontact with the previously mentioned animals. Fleas have speciallydesigned jaws which help them cut through the outer layers of ourskin in order to get through to the blood in our body, having afeast, leaving us an irritating wound afterwards. Taking intoconsideration that each one of us has a different immune system, theeffect of a flea bite is specific for every individual. Still, children are considered to be the most endangered group, having amore tender and sensitive skin.

As for bed bugs, their bites resemble amosquito bite. However, once a bed bug bites you once, it willprobably continue to do this, creating a specific pattern of biteswhich can trick you into thinking that you have an allergy of sorts. Also, these insects are active only during the night and will attackyou while you are asleep, running away as soon as you make aslightest move, being very fast and agile.

Therefore, if we are to compare the twobites, ones inflicted by fleas are red, create a bump and have a haloaround it. On the other hand, bed bug bites resemble a mosquito bite, being red, itchy and hard. Next, bed bugs bite in a specific pattern, while fleas have no rules and can bite you all around your bodywithout any order or a system. Also, fleas are more likely to bite youon the legs than on the upper parts of your body, while bed bugs donot actually choose. Both of the bites are sharp, irritating andextremely itchy.

As soon as you have been bitten, youare to treat the bite, and treat the pests afterwards. Therefore, youare to find out the cause of your bite and destroy it, making yourdwelling free from both flies and bed bugs.
