The majority of people will suffer with a breakout on their face at some stage in the life since breakouts are not just reserved for those in their teenage years.

Causes of Breakouts on the Face

There is an array of reasons for having a breakout but the main reasons are going through a hormonal imbalance or improper hygiene. However stress and pregnancy come high up on the list of causes for breakouts on the face in women. Breakouts can also be due to holding a dirty mobile phone, wearing a hairstyle with a fringe or even using the wrong skin cleanser for your type of skin.Preventive Measures for Face Breakouts

The first rule to follow if you want to prevent any further breakouts is to stop touching your face. Your fingers will always have some form of dirt on them even if you are cleaning them regularly. On the same turn of the coin you should stop picking and squeezing the spots because this action will in effect cause the infection to dig deeper into the skin which could lead to a scar. It is important that you follow a skin care regime that is right for your skin type and age. To prevent the bacteria from entering your pores you need to wash your face two to three times a day with a wash that has salicylic acid as well as benzoyl peroxide. After washing you will need to put on a non-comedogenic lotion followed by an application of a light cream that has glycolic acid because this is what will prevent the pores from becoming clogged up. As an added bonus a product that has glycolic acid will also assist in reducing the manifestation of fine lines and wrinkles. In the evening, you need to put on a night cream that has alpha hydroxy acid as it will eliminate breakouts and also work as an anti aging instrument. With your make up try and choose the products that don’t contain too much oil and the ones that say non-comedogenic on them.

Treatments for Face Breakouts

You can try using a treatment that is bought over the counter containing benzoyl peroxide, retin A, or salicylic acid. Be careful because by over using these products you may suffer with side effects like redness or inflammation. If you choose to see a doctor they may prescribe an antibiotic treatment and perhaps a topical treatment as well.
