Mucinex is a medication that temporarily relieves cough caused by breathing illnesses like common cold, or bronchitis. It loosens and thins out mucus in the airways, making breathing easier.

Mucinex does not influence or cure the common cold. Follow all dosage directions to avoid overdose. Mucinex Oral use

The Mucinex is consumed orally. It can be taken with or without food. The usual dosage is every 12 hours followed by a full glass of water, but doctor’s prescription should always be followed to the letter. If Mucinex is acquired over the counter for home care treatment, the product package directions should be carefully followed. In case of any doubts about consumption or uncertainty, contact a local pharmacist or doctor. Mucinex dosage depends on age and medical condition. Through the course of the treatment, the dosage may be changed according to the patient’s response. Directions should always be followed. It is ill advised to increase the dosage without consulting professional advice. Taking more than 2400 milligrams of Mucinex in 24 hours is not recommended.The pill should be consumed by swallowing a part or a whole tablet without chewing or crushing. By crushing the medication before consumption or chewing it, the full dose of the drug can release at once and cause side effects. While on Mucinex therapy drink plenty of fluids. Fluids clear congestion and break up the mucus.If the condition reappears, persists or gets worse after 7 days treatment or is accompanied by severe sore throat, fever, rash, headache, contacting the doctor is advised. These symptoms may indicate a serious medical problem. If there are any doubts of presence of serious medical problem, immediate medical attention should be sought.

In case of missing a dose

In case of a missed dose, the medication should be taken as soon as possible. If the time is closer to the next dose than the missed one, skip a dose, and continue with scheduled dosage. In no case should double dose be used in order to compensate for the skipped dose.
