A person loses a lot of fluids when he or she is suffering from flu and it is important that those lost fluids are replaced. The easiest way to achieve that is to consume a lot of fluids. Another good thing about consuming a lot of fluids is that a person will that way loosen the mucus which is always present when a person is suffering from flu. However, there were some researches performed on that subject and the results were did not say that a person can fight flu increased fluid intake.

Even though people should intake a lot of fluids to avoid dehydration, there are some fluids like colas, tea and coffee that people should avoid because they contain caffeine. If a person is suffering from some kidney problems, he or she should check with the doctor in order to see how much fluid he or she should consume. If a person is too weak to drink from a cup, he or she should use a straw or a squeeze bottle.
