Wondering how to get pregnant? Drink two cups of tea a day if you want to increase your chances of getting pregnant soon, researchers from Boston University say! But regular soda drinkers will do the opposite and decrease their odds of conceiving. Would you like to read more? Read on!
Elizabeth Hatch from Boston University, who led the study, set out to discover how caffeine impacts a woman's fertility. She came to some interesting conclusions. The study team followed 3600 women who were trying to get pregnant for one year. The average participant in this study was 28 years old. The outcome?
Women who liked to drink at least two cups of "ordinary" tea per day were 27 percent more likely to become pregnant compared to their counterparts who did not consume any tea at all. Coffee was found not to increase or decrease a woman's chances of conceiving a baby, but those who like carbonated sweet drinks were at a disadvantage. Those ladies who drank a minimum of two sodas a day (like cola with sugar or sugar replacers) were 20 percent less likely to get pregnant.
What did Elizabeth Hatch have to say about the reasons behind this? "I would love to say tea is a miracle cure to get pregnant but that is not realistic. There may be other factors. The tea drinkers tended to be older women and there may be something else in their diet or lifestyle that helped."
Others, commenting on the study, cautioned women who are struggling to get pregnant and especially those who are older than 35 to seek proper medical advice, and to not start drinking 10 cups of tea a day to "cure" their infertility. Hatch agreed with that, noting that tea contains plenty of anti-oxidants and that it could boost male and female fertility, but that it should be consumed in moderation.
