In the case of a viral infection the cough will usually sound quite wet and the host will have a slight temperature. As well as viral infections, a person may have a bacterial infection for example bronchitis, pneumonia, or strep throat. In children, croup can be a cause of a cough and a fever and it can be recognized by the hoarseness of the cough coupled with a fever. When a baby is going through a teething process they may produce excess saliva causing a cough.

Treatment of Cough and Fever

There are a few home remedies if a person is suffering with only a cough and a fever. Using the steam and vapor remedy is a very effective method for removing the discomfort of a cough. Many people turn to the use of lozenges, cough drops and cough syrups. It is imperative to drink the correct amount of liquid to aid in the recovery time. It is also highly important to see your doctor is the temperature raises or if the symptoms persist for more than a day or two.
