Colloidal Silver

Alternative healers use colloidal silver to treat many different infections in the body. It can be used as therapy for bacterial, viral, parasitical, or fungi infections, and because of that is very useful to treat pink eye.

Colloidal silver is the suspension of tiny silver particles in distilled water. This is a natural antibiotic remedy, helpful even in severe bacterial infections. As colloidal, this suspension can go through the membrane of the body cells and be easily absorbed.

Conjunctivitis

Pink eye (or conjunctivitis) is the inflammation of the membrane over the eyeball and eyelid lining. This is usually caused by some bacteria or viruses and even though the symptoms are unpleasant this is not an actual illness, but more discomfort.

Pink eye can cause: swelling of the eyelids, itchiness, burning, tears, and discharge from the eyes. This medical condition is very contagious and the patient with pink eye may easily infect people around him.

Colloidal silver is used to treat pink eye because the silver from the remedy will attract the infected cells and send them to the blood. This is the mechanism of action of colloidal silver, and it reacts to germs in the same way.

Because of that effect colloidal silver is used to treat the stye. This infection of the eye sebaceous glands at the base of eyelids is most commonly caused by the Staphylococcus bacteria.

Colloidal Silver Treatment

Colloidal silver can be used as eye drops to treat pink eye. Prepare your hands by washing and drying them to be germ-free. Then open your eyelid and place a couple of drops of colloidal silver in the eyelid (2 - 3 drops will be enough). Repeat the procedure 3 to 4 times a day. Some people use colloidal silver as eye spray or use diluted remedies as eyewash.

Recently, research on elements such as copper, zinc, titanium, nickel, magnesium, gold and silver has brought hope for effective alternative methods in the fight against infections. Among these metals, silver has been especially widely used in medicine and has a well-documented antimicrobial effect against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, protozoa and viruses.
  • In medicine, silver is used as a metal and as salts and nanoparticles (colloidal) from a chemical viewpoint. Silver owes its antibacterial and antifungal properties to its ionic form of Ag(I) only, which, however, is unstable and can be easily inactivated by inappropriate complexation and precipitation, or transform into a metallic form of Ag(0) without healing properties.
  • Silver metal continuously releases small amounts of ions, which act as an antibacterial at the metal surface. Oxidation to the Ag(I) ion is a slow process under normal conditions and leads to low effective silver concentrations. Therefore, metallic silver has been used in alloys with which implants or sutures are coated.
  • Silver (I) salts, containing the ionic, microbiologically active form, are divided into practically insoluble (silver (I) sulfide) and well-soluble (silver (I) nitrate). The high solubility of silver (I) salts leads to a high local silver concentration and, thus, high antibacterial activity but high toxicity as well. The solubility and toxicity of silver (I) salts are dependent on many environmental factors; e.g., they vary according to pH. Hence, any medicinal product containing silver (I) salts requires careful clinical studies assessing the actual concentration of silver (I) ions.
  • Study results showed that miconazole silver (I) compounds have promising therapeutic potential, can be used as antifungal, antibacterial, and anticancer agents and have stronger antibacterial and anticancer properties than free ligands.
  • Ag-NPs conjugated with oleic acid or vildagliptin exhibit antiacanthamoebic activity that can be therapeutically applied against Acanthamoeba castellanii, an opportunistic pathogen that is associated with blinding eye keratitis and a rare but fatal central nervous system infection.
  • The appropriate pH can be achieved without risking the precipitation of silver (I) hydroxide by adding sodium hydroxide, which then decomposes into silver (I) oxide. Sufficient sodium hydroxide binds excess protons in the drop solution and allows the pH to be raised to the desired level.

Usually, most symptoms disappear after several hours, but it is recommended to use this silver remedy for a couple of days more. By doing so, you will completely cure the eye from the infection. Some suggest that orally taking colloidal silver can improve the effects of topical use of the same remedy. The overall effect will be a boost to your immune system, which should help clear the infection even faster.

Colloidal silver is suitable for people of all ages and can be used in babies, children, adults, and the elderly, without any fear.

Caution

Colloidal silver must be bought and stored in dark bottles because it tends to break down very quickly.
