Accumulated debris on the surface of the tongue may leave mark, causing white tongue. This is one of the least problematic causes of white tongue and there might be several more, also not associated with any real medical problems, such as sore throat due to common cold or flu. Oral lichen planus, geographic tongue, leukoplakia and syphilis are also associated with whitish appearance of the tongue in some patients. How to Cure White Tongue?

Make sure to find out why you have white tongue, in the first place. If it is poor hygiene, clean your tongue properly with a toothbrush and some toothpaste or use tongue scraper and then rinse the residues with some water. After this, use some antibacterial mouthwash.

If it is not improper oral hygiene, visit your doctor. Yeast infection usually leaves a reddish tongue after scraping, so you will know whether this is the cause of your problem. Commonly prescribed treatments include some anti-fungal medications, while some doctors advise taking unsweetened yogurt. Garlic is also found to be efficient against oral thrush as well as the use of probiotics. Contact your doctor and get checked for white tongue in order to prevent possible health complications arising from this problem.
