Hydroxycut as a weight loss supplement

Hydroxycut is a dietary supplement that people use when they want to lose some weight, since it is believed that it has the ability to increase the metabolic rate of the body. It does not have to be prescribed by the doctor; on the contrary, it is widely available and can be purchased in almost every pharmacy. It is produced in several forms, and it is thought that its active ingredients (green tea extract, calcium, potassium and others) work as stimulants, while others either reduce the storage of the fat in the body or decrease the blood sugar levels. Besides this, hydroxycut improves stamina, increases energy and decreases the appetite. However, regardless of its increasing popularity, the fact remains that further research needs to be done in order to confirm all the benefits that have been attributed to this weight loss supplement.

Possible side effect of hydroxycut

Even though it is believed that it has a number of beneficial features, the fact is that this product might also cause a number of side effects. Some of them are not serious, but some of them are. Earlier this product contained ephedra, so some of the side effects were attributed to this ingredient, which is why later the manufacturers began to produce the new version of hydroxycut without this ingredient. However, since people continued to report alarming side effects, and some studies confirmed that hydroxycut was responsible. The FDA requested that the consumers stop buying this product. Liver damage is one of these alarming problems, and one case even resulted in death. Convulsions are another alarming problem, while rapid breakdown of the skeletal muscles (which is medically called rhabdomyolysis) is an unwanted effect which can cause damage to the kidneys. This certainly does not mean that everyone who uses this dietary supplement will experience these problems, but due to the percentage of those who have experienced them, is a reason for concern. Less serious side effects include increased sweating, headaches, loss of appetite, dizziness, while side effects that probably occur due to the fact that it contains a number of ingredients that function as stimulants include insomnia, heartburn, nervousness, tremors, increased urination and even erectile dysfunction. Hypertension is also a very serious side effect, as well as rapid heart rate, agitation, irregular heart rhythm and palpitations. With these in mind, people who are considering the use of hydroxycut should think twice before giving it a chance.
