After they reach a certain age, people start worrying about the signs of aging. Most people, especially women, are worried about those signs on the skin, like wrinkles and fine lines, less elastic or even soggy skin and dryness. The market offers many products that are meant to hide or reverse the aging, but unfortunately those products are often quite expensive, especially if they are good. However, there are certain ingredients that are commonly found in any household and that can be used to make great, natural and inexpensive anti-age creams and other products.

Home-made anti aging creams

Cleaning and exfoliating the skin is the first and the basic step in prevention of the signs of age on the skin. The purpose of cleaning is, obviously, to prevent the damage caused by dirt and dust, and exfoliation is used to clear the pores and to remove dead skin cells.

Crushed sea salt, oatmeal, cornmeal or gram flour are among the best ingredients for anti-age exfoliation at home. It is recommended to use them at least twice a week but also to be careful not to overdo it and irritate the skin.

Another great ingredient that is natural and widely available is aloe vera. It has amazing properties and many uses, both in cosmetics and in medicine. This plant is widely used to repair the damage to the skin due to burns or cuts, and it is only logical that it can repair broken or damaged tissue and skin connections in the deeper layers, which are responsible for wrinkles. Aloe vera, applied on the skin, penetrates the deeper layers and repairs them, reducing the wrinkles and preventing them too.

There are many other ingredients that work great against the signs of aging. It is best to explore them and try out different combinations. Almost any plant, herb, fruit or vegetable can be used for this purpose, but it may take some time to figure out which ones are the best for the specific skin type.

Salicylic acid is a common ingredient in many cosmetic products, especially in those designed to fight acne. This acid acts as a mild abrasive agent and removes the dead skin cells very efficiently.

Care from the inside

Wrinkles and other signs of aging should be fought from the inside as well. Common vitamins in the form of over-the-counter supplements are a must in this process. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and it is very important for the skin. It is best to combine it with beta carotene, another important nutrient.

Green tea is often considered as one of the best sources of antioxidants in the nature. It is best to drink it in its natural form, but it also comes in form of capsules or tablets.

Butterbur is a herbal extract that is often used in commercial anti-aging creams, and it can also be taken internally. Olbas oil is another natural remedy for the skin, available in health stores and from herbal practitioners.
