Constipation is quite a common and bound to affect all of us at least once during the course of our lives. Constipation manifests through experiencing a lack of frequent bowel movement. Namely, everything between having a bowel movement three times a day to passing stool three times a week is considered normal and therefore healthy. However, situations where one has bowel movement less frequently than this, present a clear sign of constipation and should be treated as soon as possible. However, taking into consideration that constipation is not a condition but rather a symptom of some underlying cause, you need to look further into it in order to treat it adequately.
What Causes Constipation
Among other things, dairy products are known to cause constipation. Of course you would have to over eat products like milk, milk cream, yogurt, cheese and others of this type in order to suffer from constipation.
So, in order to prevent this troublesome state of affairs, you are advised to eat a lot of vegetables and fruit, substituting most of your meat consumption with veggies of this type. Furthermore, if cheese causes you this problem, you are to remove it from your diet completely. Eating green lettuce, baked potatoes, apples, oranges, bananas and drinking plenty of water can all be factors contributing to the end of your stool problems.
Can Cheese Help?
Strangely enough, cheese causes constipation in some people, while, at the same time, in others, it can be a cure against this problem. Cottage cheese, being one of the lightest of all cheeses, is wide known for its power of increasing the bowel movement frequency. Therefore, you may add it to the salads or macaroni you are eating while constipated. Still, be careful, since not all cheese types will have this beneficial effect. Rather, most of the others will only make your problems worse.
Finally, two other types of cheese you may eat freely, without suffering later, are goat cheese and soy cheese. Both natural and extremely light, these types of cheese will reduce any constipation problems you might have or prevent them before they even take place. Thus, these are a valuable addition to your diet too.
These were several facts about constipation, its causes and its means of prevention. Be careful with whatever you eat, do not overdo it and make sure your intake involves a lot of fiber and drink sufficient amounts of water.
