What are the characteristics of CBT?
This therapy is aiming to discover what exactly has caused psychological issues in a person. The main reason for any psychological problem is in the wrong way of thinking and believing about the world that surrounds us and about ourselves. So, if a person manages to change these wrong assumptions about the world and himself, then it will help him or her to solve the problems. The most important thing here is to change dysfunctional believes and replace them with rational and functional thoughts. In disorders such anxiety, depression, or obsessive-compulsive disorder, the presence of these wrong ways of thinking is almost certain.
Excessive responsibility
This is a term used to describe those individuals who have the tendency to exaggerate with their responsibilities, which can sometimes even include things that we often do, but the persons will blame themselves if the thing is not done in a right way. When we say excessive responsibility, we mean that a person will take full responsibility for everything, and even for some things that he or she is not responsible for. This can lead to emotional and psychological disturbances. Why is this happening? Responsibility can be very stressful for every person. We often forget to look on the positive sides of responsibilities and focus only on their negative aspects. The usual scenario is that, when someone makes some mistake, the person who is responsible must be found and punished. This is enhancing the negative connotation of responsibility. If people find themselves responsible for a lot of things, then they will be under a lot of stress, which could affect their mental health. The conclusion is that these people should realize that they can’t control every little thing that is happening in their lives. Once they really understand this, they will feel much better and more relaxed. People should be aware of what their responsibility really is and what is not. There are some things that can disturb us, but we are not responsible for that. For example, when your child is bullied in school, you will probably be upset because of that, but you should be aware that you are not responsible for that and you shouldn't blame yourself. You should think rationally and accept that there are unpredictable things in life. This way of thinking will help you to be healthier and reduce the stress.
