Side effects of Bromelain

People need to know that there are various side effects they may suffer from if the overdose on bromelain tablets or capsules.

In most cases of bromelain overdose people experience gastrointestinal effects. Some of the most common gastrointestinal side effects are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, loss of appetite, muscle pan, headache, dizziness and lethargy. Uterine bleeding and heavy menstruation are common among women.

Doctors also claim that drug and herb interactions with those consuming bromelain are also possible so people need to talk to a doctor before thinking about taking bromelain. 

Allergic reactions and breathing problems

Allergic reactions are also possible. Apart from the skin allergies, digestive allergies are also a possibility. Hives, skin rash and itching occur in most cases. Breathing problems are possible but do not occur as often.

Heavy bleeding

Another common side effect of bromelain is heavy bleeding. Bromelain is supposed to increase blood flow and that is why people who suffer from blood disorders or bleeding disorders should not use it. Pregnant women must also avoid using bromelain as well.
