The Cerebrum
The cerebrum is the largest part of the brain. The cerebrum makes up 85% of the entire brain. It consists of two hemispheres. The right part of the cerebrum is in charge with abstract things including color, music and shapes. Left part of the brain, on the other hand, plays significant role in analytic activities and is connected to logic and speech.
Furthermore, this is the thinking part of the brain. It also assists in voluntary control of the muscles. Each and every body move we want to perform is controlled by the cerebrum.
This part of the brain is involved in decision making, solving of different problems and drawing. It is also a container of our memory, both short-term and long-term memory. The cerebellum also helps us in rationalization of the things and events in our lives. The Cerebellum
The cerebellum is another part of the brain. It is located at the back and just bellows the cerebrum. Even though it is not so large, the cerebellum has rather important role. Namely, it is engaged in balance of the body and its movements. The proper coordination of movements entirely depends on adequate functioning of cerebellum. The damage of this par of the brain reflects in loss of balance or improper coordination of body movements.
The Brain Stem
The brain stem is rather powerful part of the brain. It is located below the cerebellum and it holds spinal cord together with the upper part of the brain. It contains special centers such as those in charge with breathing and heart function. The brain stem is additionally responsible for involuntary muscle movements.The Pituitary Gland
The pituitary gland is a tiny gland situated in a small bone cavity called sella turcica. This gland is in charge with production of a variety of hormones which additionally control the function of other glands in the body. Apart from that the pituitary gland controls the growth.
The Hypothalamus
Hypothalamus is the part of the brain which regulates human body temperature, hunger and thirst. It is also connected to pituitary gland and controls it as well. This part of the brain is additionally responsible for certain metabolic activities and the activities of autonomic nervous system. And finally, the hypothalamus is in charge with circadian cycles.
