Consumption of these foods will not help the process of digestion. On the other hand, salt and sugar are important and a person must not exclude them from the diet. However, if a person eats too much salt and sugar, he or she will not get the wanted benefits from them.
A person needs to be careful because there are plenty of foods out there that might taste good but there are no health benefits gained from consuming them. Such foods are known as empty calorie foods. Some of these foods are soft drinks, certain types of snacks and processed food. Lots of people are tempted by these foods but a person needs to remain strong in order to follow a well balanced diet.
Experts agree that an excellent diet is the one that has saturated and trans fats, cholesterol, sugar, salt, meats, fruits, vegetables, wholegrain products, dairy products that are either low or normal fat, fish, nuts and poultry. Another very important part of a good diet is the number of calories.
