It is normal to experience headache once in a while. But if headaches occur frequently and especially if they are intensive and interfere in everyday activities, a person is supposed to report this to his/ her health care provider. Unfortunately, frequent headaches are also a characteristic of brain tumors. They occur once the tumor has grown to sufficient size and caused increase in intracranial pressure. Brain tumors in almost all patients cause repeated and frequent headaches. And finally, tension headaches are the type of headaches which occur frequently and are usually caused by stress and anxiety.
Other Causes of Frequent Headaches
Apart from medical conditions frequent headache may occur due to hectic and unhealthy lifestyles. Dehydration is definitely one of the leading causes of headaches. Insufficient intake of water always leads to dehydration and consequent headache. It is, therefore, essential to pay attention on fluid intake and to take at least 6 to 8 glasses of fluids per day. Even hunger and skipping of meals may result in frequent headaches especially if a person works a lot and simply neglects body's need for food.
Frequent headaches also affect pregnant women and they are typical for the first trimester. The occurrence as well as the frequency of headaches in the first trimester basically varies from one woman to another. And finally, frequent headaches may be associated with certain medications. To be more precise, headaches may be a side effect of some medications. This needs to be taken into consideration when the specific drug is prescribed and in case the side effect occurs the patients are supposed to be given a proper substitute medication.
