Serotonin is a certain type of neurotransmitter which is commonly present as a contributing factor in phobias, social anxieties, body dysmorphic disorders, bulimia, anorexia, obsessive compulsive disorder and depression. Serotonin is also very important in the regulation of body temperature, libido and sleep. Serotonin can be considered as the fuel which gets the brain running properly. When a person gets exposed to high levels of pressure and stress, the levels of serotonin get decreased. Low levels of serotonin are commonly associated with depression and other similar medical conditions. Low levels of serotonin can also be related with problems concerning proper attention and concentration.

Moderately low levels of serotonin

Moderately low levels of serotonin can be associated with a wide array of different problems. Those problems may include odd behavior, a feeling of being faded away, starting to take everything personally, loss of personality, various different types of weird body sensations, low self confidence, low self esteem, frequent crying spells, emotional sadness, different forms of social withdrawal, complete loss of sexual interest, loss of food craving, subsequent weight loss, loss of appetite, other forms of appetite disturbances, different kinds of sleep disturbances and chronic fatigue among other things. Severely low levels of serotonin

Severely low levels of serotonin may be a cause of many concerns. The symptoms associated with such medical condition are very hard to ignore, and in most cases they are extremely uncomfortable. A person may experience extreme amounts of criticism from the loved ones and the members of the family. Bizarre behavior may occur in some cases as well. Various different types of memory related problems may also occur. It is also fairly common for various escape fantasies to start kicking in. Behavioral and crying outbursts are also common occurrences. Being emotionally numb is a normal thing as well. The speed and control of thoughts becomes uncontrollable too.
