A person may spread the flu to another person even beforethe symptoms start kicking in. Those who get infected may follow a few simpleinstructions in order to get rid of the illness as soon as possible. Getting asmuch rest as possible and drinking plenty of liquids are of utmost importance.One should also try to avoid using any sorts of tobacco products and alcoholicbeverages. It is also very important to take certain medications in order torelieve the symptoms. The flu is caused by viruses so it cannot be treated withantibiotics. It needs to be treated with certain types of prescriptionantiviral medicaments. The treatment usually does not last for more than 5days. Children and teenagers with flu symptoms should never take Aspirin.

Flu vaccine is the best way of prevention concerning the medicalcondition known as influenza. It is especially recommended for pregnant women, childrenof up to 5 years of age, people older than 50 years and those who suffer fromvarious chronic medical conditions. The nasal spray flu vaccine is an alternativefor all those who are between the 2 and 49 years of age. This alternativecannot be used in pregnant women. Those who suffer from certain food allergiesor suffer from serious medical conditions should not be vaccinated. The mostcommon side effects of flu vaccine may or may not include aches, low gradefever and swelling, redness or soreness at the area where the shot was given.
