Lung cancer and its causes

Lung cancer attacks the tissues of the lungs, and it is considered to be among the most common kinds of cancer. The prime cause of lung cancer is smoking. Smoking damages the lungs significantly, making their tissues more exposed, and therefore more prone to this particular cancer. For example, people who have been smoking increasing amounts of cigarettes for over a decade or two are extremely likely to get lung cancer, as their chances are higher than 60 percent.

On the other hand, the chances of getting lung cancer for people who do not smoke, and yet are often exposed to cigarette smoke, are fifty-fifty, which is alarmingly high as they can only influence that to a certain extent.

Other causes of lung cancer may include pollution or a close contact to asbestos and industrial metals. It is also important to mention that a connection between marijuana consumption, tuberculosis and vitamin A deficiency has been established as well.

Possible symptoms of lung cancer

Lung cancer is generally characterized by a cough, abnormal changes in the voice which are most likely to make it husky and rough, and shortness of breath. A person’s spit is also likely to contain blood and leave a kind of metallic taste in the mouth. These symptoms do not necessarily have to manifest themselves as soon as the disease starts attacking the body. Sometimes they appear in somewhat more advanced stages of the condition.

Diagnosing lung cancer

The easiest way to diagnose lung cancer is by an x-ray machine. However, if the x-ray fails to detect the cancer and the grounds for suspecting it still exist, a CAT scan can be performed. A CAT scan gives a more detailed picture of body structures and is able to show even the smallest cancer cells. The final, but necessary step of the diagnosing process is a biopsy. A biopsy means taking a sample of the infected tissue and testing it in order to confirm the diagnosis.

Treating lung cancer the natural way

Obviously, it is neither recommended nor possible to avoid the conventional treatment for lung cancer. However, there are some natural supplements that can be included in the treatment which have proven to be helpful in getting rid of lung cancer.

One of the most efficient herbal supplements is aloe juice. Aloe juice stops the development of carcinogens from the chemicals which enter the body through cigarettes. Aside from aloe juice, there are different capsules and tinctures that are quite useful while battling lung cancer. One final thing that is important to remember is to consult a doctor before taking any of these because there are some conditions which can provoke side effects.
