Causes of Asthma in Children

It is still largely unknown what exactly causes asthma bothin children and adults. The condition commonly flares up when the child suffersfrom influenza, common cold or some other type of respiratory disorder. Asthmaattacks can be triggered by dust or other sorts of environmental pollutants. The most common allergens responsible for the onset of asthma attacks includemedications, dander, tobacco smoke, cold air, exercise, mold, pollen and mites, among others. An asthma attack occurs when the airways get narrow and all themuscles around them start contracting. This results in inflammation of themembranes of the inner wall and excessive production of mucus. Another type ofasthma called exercise induced asthma occurs when the child has overlysensitive lungs which cannot adjust to sudden changes in humidity andtemperature.
