Calamine lotion is a preparation that consists of zinc oxide and iron oxide and is part of the group called anti-pruritic medicines. It can be found in a form of water-based lotion and cream, and in the form of oil-based lotion. It can be bought without a doctor’s prescription, but it is recommended to use it exactly as suggested on the label unless the doctor says otherwise.
