Causes of Impotence

Men in their 20s and 30s are most commonly affected by impotence, as well as some elderly. Although we are well into 21st century impotence or sexual dysfunction is still the cause of embarrassment for men suffering from this condition. Simply because of that, it is not easy to say how many men have had this problem, but some research suggest that 1 out of 10 men experienced erectile dysfunction at some point of his life.

Erection starts in the brain, sending the singles for relaxation and stimulation to the penis. Stimulation causes increased blood flow in the penis and erection. If there is any problem in the circulation of the blood or the blood flow gets obstructed there is no erection and the person is unable to complete sexual intercourse with his partner.

Erectile dysfunction can be caused by physiological, psychological or in some cases by combination of these two factors. Diabetes, high blood cholesterol, hardening of the arteries, hypertension and kidney problems may be physiological reason why you can’t achieve or maintain erection. Pelvic surgery or use of certain prescription drugs may also lead to erectile dysfunction, as well as smoking or heavy drinking habits.

Since impotence can be psychologically determined, it is important to know that depression, performance anxiety, sexual boredom or unresolved sexual orientation can also be possible causes of this problem.

Impotence Diagnosis and Treatment

Don’t be ashamed of erectile dysfunction and visit your doctor, because this is the best way to properly diagnose and treat the problem accordingly. If you notice inadequate impotence which can’t sustain sexual intercourse, lack or loss of sexual desire or complete lack of erection these are the sings of impotence. Your doctor will be able to identify the cause of the problem and treat it.

There are different treatment options for impotence, depending on the cause of the problem. Some men need psychosexual therapy and others might get better with the help of medications, injections, hormones, vacuum pumps, penile prosthesis or even surgical procedures in some cases.

Viagra, Levitra and Cialis are prescription drugs available for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Consult your doctor and ask for recommendation and prescription. You should know that some men should not use these drugs, so always ask your doctor, prior to any treatment.

There are also natural remedies for erectile dysfunction, like VigRX. These pills contain extracts of several herbs, such as Asian red ginseng, ginko biloba leaf, cuscuta seed, saw palmetto berry, hawtorn berry, muira pauma bark extract and epimedium leaf extract. VigRX works by enhancing blood flow and enabling erection in the presence of sexual excitement.
