Skin may also turn completely blue or red. Some other symptoms may include swelling of the tongue, swelling of the face, swelling of the lips, unconsciousness, vomiting, abnormally high pulse rate and diarrhea.

The symptoms of penicillin allergy can be avoided by conducting a penicillin allergy test before taking the medicine. It is a skin test which involves administration of a penicillin injection into the skin tissue. A pimple signifies that a person is actually allergic to penicillin.
